Last night I finally got around to watching the Netflix movie I've had all week: The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. It is one of the most visually stunning films I've ever seen. *Ever*. I was constantly ohhhing and ahhhing over the bright colors of the sets, the lovely vintage clothing, and Catherine Deneuve's hair. Seriously wanting to recreate some of her hairdos from this film. The entire movie, word for word is sung in french, which started to get to me after awhile so I actually ended up turning off the subtitles and just watching it without knowing what they were saying. It's such a visual film that honestly it didn't matter what they were saying but I got the gist of it. This movie would be great to have playing in the background at a girly cocktail party, just so you could take in all it's visual vintage glory.

This is one of those movies that I've been meaning to see for years. Everyone seems to love it. The screencaps look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe only other French musical I've seen is Les chansons d'amour, and even though I don't understand the words it's definitely one of my favorite soundtracks and top-played albums. Louis Garrel's voice as almost as amazing as his hair!
ill have to check this movie out!! might be my weekend movie pick :)
