The Encouragement of Light

purple rose background

"How did the rose ever open its heart and give to this world all of its beauty?

It felt the encouragement of light against its being, otherwise we all remain too frightened."

Happy 76th Birthday to Sophia Loren

Sophia Loren

"I think the quality of sexiness comes from within. It is something that is in you or it isn't and it really doesn't have much to do with breasts or thighs or the pout of your lips."

Sophia Loren

"A woman's dress should be like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view."

Happy Birthday Sophia!!!

Vintage Glamourous Spirit-Gene Tierney

Gene Tierney

Say hello to actress Gene Tierney. Isn't she stunning?? Here are some interesting tidbits about this glamourous lady:

* She was born in Brooklyn
* She was married to fashion designer Oleg Cassini
* She dated JFK before his Jackie days
* She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in "Leave Her To Heaven"

"Jealously is, I think, the worst of all faults because it makes a victim of both parties."

The Umbrellas of Cherbourg

Last night I finally got around to watching the Netflix movie I've had all week: The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. It is one of the most visually stunning films I've ever seen. *Ever*. I was constantly ohhhing and ahhhing over the bright colors of the sets, the lovely vintage clothing, and Catherine Deneuve's hair. Seriously wanting to recreate some of her hairdos from this film. The entire movie, word for word is sung in french, which started to get to me after awhile so I actually ended up turning off the subtitles and just watching it without knowing what they were saying. It's such a visual film that honestly it didn't matter what they were saying but I got the gist of it. This movie would be great to have playing in the background at a girly cocktail party, just so you could take in all it's visual vintage glory.

I Choose Daring Adventures.

YUKATA 杏さゆり Sayuri Anzu

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.” - Helen Keller

Vintage Street Style

I'm such a fan of seeing street style photos, so you can imagine my *delight* when I came across some vintage photos that were reminiscent of that trend. These photos are all from the 30's and 40's and since there weren't as many streets back in those days some of these are "grass style". I'm in love with the first two photos for totally different reasons...the top photo was taken at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine St. which is right near my hood so it makes me nostalgic, and she looks so damn cool + look at her shoes!! The second photo just makes me swoon. I love her hat and giant corsage!!

Enjoy!!

Vintage Beauties and Their Beasts.

As the proud mama of the sweetest pup in the world, a little girl named Liberty, I truly understand the special bond that can happen between humans and animals. The closeness that comes when words don't get in the way is magical...there is nothing greater than earning the trust and love of an animal. That's why I love these pictures of Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot...both of whom were/are great animal lovers. Audrey even had a pet deer named Pippin!! I love these photos of them together...so sweet. Also in these photos is her yorkie, Mr. Famous. To this day, Brigitte, is still a huge supporter of animals thru organizations like PETA.

I secretly wish I could have a pet lamb or goat...any random pets you wish you had running around????
